SLIDE SIZING

Finding your model size should feel simple.

Most customers can get very close with one simple measurement. This page walks you through the most accurate way to size your slide, then gives you a few additional ways to narrow down the right model, including our in-house sizing tools.

We always recommend taking a few minutes to go through the sizing process carefully, since the goal is to get you the best fit possible with your order.

If your slide does not fit as expected, we will work with you to help get you into a better-fitting slide.

How this page works

  • Start with the main measuring method for the most accurate sizing.

  • Use the in-house sizing tools to convert your measurement and narrow down matching models.

  • You can also size by general hand size or by matching a slide you already own.

  • Additional sizing sheets and reference guides are available at the bottom of the page if you want more detail.

BEST WAY TO SIZE

Measure your finger first

The most accurate way to size a slide is to measure the finger you plan to wear it on, then match that measurement to the closest inside diameter.

This is a super easy 3 step process. See below.

1) Measure your finger

Use a flexible tape, paper strip, or string to measure around the finger where the slide will actually sit.

For many players, the largest knuckle is the most important point to account for. We are trying to find your fit into the clear glass portion of the slide.

Once you find your measurement, you will use it in Step 2 below…

Enter your measurement to find the closest inner diameter for your Model #.

Inches can be entered as decimals or fractions, like 7/8 or 2 7/16.

2) Get inner diameter

Enter your measurement into the applet to calculate your inner diameter.

This is the number you will use to compare against slide sizes.

3) Use the applet to find your model

Once you have your inner diameter, enter your Inner Diameter into the model finder applet. You can also use the optional ring size, wall thickness, and length fields in to help refine the results even further.

You can also use the sizing chart below to narrow down which slide models are the best match for your measurement.

Step 3: Narrow down your slide models.

Once you have your inner diameter, enter it below to see which slide models best fit your size. The optional ring size, wall thickness, and length fields can also help refine your search.

Quick sizing chart
Compare your measurement to the closest inside diameter, then look across the row to see which slide models are available in that size range.
Inside Diameter Approx. Ring Size Medium Wall Tapered Heavy Wall Tapered Non-Tapered
17.4–18 mm
11/16–23/32 in
7–8 418 (Shorty) S/XS (Shorty, Regular)
20–20.4 mm
25/32–13/16 in
10.5–10.75 419 (Shorty)
420 (Regular)
423 (Shorty)
424 (Regular)
MD (Shorty, Regular)
22–22.4 mm
7/8–57/64 in
12.75–13 421 (Regular)
422 (Shorty)
425 (Shorty)
426 (Regular)
23.7–24 mm
15/16 in
13.5 428 (Regular) XL (Regular)

Tapered models have a smaller average inner diameter at the tip than at the opening, so exact feel can vary depending on where the slide sits on your finger.

If you are between sizes, use your preferred fit, knuckle clearance, and model style to decide the better option.

BACKUP SIZING OPTIONS

Other ways to narrow it down

If you cannot measure directly, these methods can still help you get close. They work best as backup sizing tools, while measuring your finger remains the most accurate option.

Backup Method 1: Match an Existing Slide

If you already own a Dunlop or Rock Slide model that fits well, use the applet to find the closest Silica Sound slide models to consider.

This is a helpful way to get close when you already know a slide that fits you well.

Backup Method 2: General Hand Size

Use the applet to get a general idea of which slide models you may want to consider based on your overall hand size.

This is a broad starting point and is best used when you do not have an exact measurement.
